The Irish Pony Club provides training in all disciplines of equestrian activities in the country. There are sixty branches spread throughout the country with approximately 3,500 members aged up to 23.

Here at Bray Hunt Pony Club we run activities to suit both the competitive member and non competitive member. 

​

The objectives of the Irish Pony Club are same today as they were when the Pony Club was first established and they are as follows:

​

• To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with ponies and riding.

• To give instruction in riding and horsemanship and to educate members to look after and to take proper care of their animals.

• To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, and to create strength of character and self discipline.

Most of our activities take place at various locations between Kilternan in the North and Ashford in the South. We are very lucky to have many kind landowners in our area who make us feel very welcome.

Our activities include; Rallies, Camps, Show Jumping, Dressage, Hunter Trials, Eventing, Combined Training, Tetrathlon, Minimus, Mounted Games and many fun and non-competitive activities.

 The highlights of the year for most of our members are the annual camps, which are usually held in July. We have a three day camp for our younger members and for our members aged over ten years of age, we have a five day camp.

 

Rallies are the backbone of the Pony Club. A rally is where members collect at a particular venue and for two or three hours they receive instruction, play games, have fun and make life-long friends! We also have un-mounted rallies where the ponies are left at home while we concentrate on stable management. These are particularly useful for

helping prepare for Pony Club Tests, which are optional proficiency Tests that members can work towards. 

 

If you are a new member you may find it takes a white to become familiar, so when you come along to your first outing, why not introduce yourself. We will do our best to make you feel welcome. If you are an existing member and see a new face, why not introduce yourself and make the new member feel welcome.

 

Summer is our busiest time with rallies, camps, and many other activities, both competitive and non-competitive. We also have activities during the Christmas and Easter holidays, such as Hunter Trials and ride outs. Subject to demand, we also run some activities during the school term time.
